Age Limit Criteria

There is no upper or minimum age limit criterion to take the JEE Main exam. Candidates who have finished and passed class 10+2/ equivalent examination in the year 2025 and 2026 or are appearing for the examination in 2027 are eligible to appear for JEE Main 2027. They can check the criteria individually for their desired colleges on their respective websites.

• Candidates who have passed the class 10+2/ equivalent examination in 2024 or before that are not eligible to give the JEE Main 2027.

Nationality Criteria

Nationality criteria for candidates who want to apply for JEE Main 2027 are:

• They must hold Indian citizenship.
• Additionally, foreign nationals, as well as Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), are also eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification Criteria

• The final examination 10+2 should be conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and central boards like CISCE and others.
• Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination (PUC) conducted by a recognised Board/ University.
• Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
• Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
• Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination is applicable.
• A diploma recognised by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years’ duration.
• General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
• High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
• Candidates who have completed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII Examination.
• In case the Class XII Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.
• Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE), Sikkim.

JEE Main 2027 Exam Day Guidelines

Every year, specific guidelines are given for the exam day when the admit card is released. Here are the guidelines candidates appearing for JEE Main 2027 must strictly follow. Failure to follow the guidelines will result in the disqualification of the candidate’s application and test score.

• Candidates must carry a printed copy of the JEE Main 2027 admit card with the self-declaration form.
• A valid photo ID, which was selected during the form completion, must be carried. (Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, PAN Card).
• Candidates must reach the test centre preferably 2 hours before the reporting time.
• Candidates can carry their own water bottles and a blue/black ballpoint pen.
• The same passport-sized photograph present in the application form must be carried along as well.
• Students should not carry any electronic devices or indulge in any unfair practices, as this will lead to the disqualification of the candidate’s application for JEE Main 2027.
• Rough books and pens will be provided in the examination centre.

• Mobile phones
• Smart watches

JEE Main 2027 Reservations

JEE Main 2027 follows the Government of India’s reservation policy to ensure fair and equitable opportunities for candidates from different social and economic backgrounds. The reservation criteria are as follows:
