Prestigious NEET Coaching institutes in Sikar as well as in Kota are projecting safe score cutoffs around 540 or even lower with heavy fluctuations. The confusion is real, but the answer is clear.

By conducting deep research based on various factors and points of analysis (as discussed below), we have identified that the NEET Re-Exam 2026 cut-off marks will be around 560 out of 720. Read this blog carefully to know about the NEET Re-Exam 2026 safe score and cutoff marks to get an idea about your overall chances of qualification.

NEET Previous Year Cut-Off Marks Trends

Before estimating the NEET 2026 Re-Exam Cut Off Marks, it is important to know about the cut-off trends identified in the previous years. The last 5 years’ cut-off trends of the NEET exam are mentioned below-

2020–2024: The Easy Paper Era

For five straight years between 2020 and 2024, NEET exam papers were considered relatively straightforward, predictable, NCERT-heavy, and manageable with a little bit of time pressure. Students and coaching institutes evaluated their preparation and cutoff expectations during this era to get an idea about their qualification chances. The “safe score” culture was built over these years.

NEET 2020 exam cut-off marks were 720 – 147 for the General category.

In the NEET 2021 exam, the cut-off marks were around 720 – 138.

The cutoff score of the NEET 2022 exam was 715 – 117.

NEET Cut Off 2023 marks were 720 – 137.

The NEET cut-off marks for the 2024 exam were 720 – 162.

If we consider the NEET exam cut-off trends between 2020 and 2024, then the average score was 720-140, which is considered easy.

NEET 2025: The Turning Year

NEET 2025 was a turning point in relation to the cutoff marks. The paper was slightly difficult, especially Physics, which was confirmed difficult and time-consuming by most of the students. Students who had prepared for the “easy era of the NEET exam” faced difficulties during the NEET 2025 exam. The difficulty level of the NEET 2025 exam was unexpected. This resulted in an All India Quota cutoff for a government medical college seat jumping to 610 – 650 marks, while the NEET qualifying marks jumped to 686 – 144.

NEET 2026 Cut-Off Marks

NEET 2026 was cancelled due to multiple paper leak allegations, and the Re-NEET 2026 was conducted by the NTA on 21st June 2026. The overall difficulty level of the NEET Re-Exam 2026 was moderate but lengthy. Chemistry and Physics were tricky and moderately difficult, and Biology was very easy and high scoring. The expected NEET Re-Exam safe score cut-off marks will be around 560 marks out of 720. A category-wise expected cutoff marks for the NEET Re-Exam 2026 are as follows:

Category

Marks Out of 720 (Expected)

GEN

560- 575

GEN-EWS

560- 575

OBC

560- 575

SC

465- 485

ST

450- 470

PwD

450- 490+

NTA Updates on Re-NEET 2026: One Question Dropped & One with 2 Correct Answers in Physics; Who will Get Bonus Marks?

4 Crucial Differences Between NEET 2025 and Re-NEET 2026

The NEET 2025 exam and NEET Re-Exam 2026 were slightly different from each other. Re-NEET 2026 required stronger analytical skills and better time management in comparison with the NEET 2025 exam, particularly in Physics. This is an important aspect missed by most of the coaching institutes.

Difference 1: Students Mentally Prepared for a Tough Paper

In 2025, a tough paper was a surprise for most of the students. Students appeared in the NEET 2025 exam expecting a manageable exam, but the exam was slightly on the difficult side. In 2026, after experiencing 2025, the entire NEET community, students, parents, and teachers, believe that NEET 2026 will be difficult in comparison with previous year shifts, but the exam was not that difficult, with moderate level difficulty. Mental preparation is a crucial factor in cracking competitive exams like NEET. It is the difference between finishing a tough Physics question and leaving it blank in panic.

Difference 2: Biology Was Easy and Less Time-Consuming

In the NEET exam, Biology (360 marks, 90 questions) is the most important section to score high marks. When Biology is easy and doable, students score good marks in the NEET exam by utilizing the remaining time in solving the Chemistry and Physics sections.

In the NEET Re-Exam 2026, the average time to solve the Biology section was 45 to 50 minutes, which was slightly lower than the NEET 2025 exam (45-55 minutes).

In Re-NEET 2026, Biology was not only easy but also less time-consuming than the NEET exam 2025. The extra time allowed students to revisit, attempt, and solve the tricky questions from the Chemistry and Physics sections that they might otherwise have left due to time management issues.

Difference 3: Role of 15 Extra Minutes

The National Testing Agency (NTA) provided an additional 15 minutes to every student in comparison with last year’s exam. The extra 15 minutes are utilized by the students to complete exam formalities. In the NEET exams, an extra 15 minutes is very important, where students can attempt 4 more Physics questions or check their Chemistry response twice.

Difference 4: One Year of Stronger Preparation

The NEET 2025 exam gave students a sense that the exam could become more challenging in the coming years. So, students prepared for the NEET Re-Exam 2026 with a focus on conceptual understanding, calculation-based questions, and assertion-reason formats. This clearly proves that NEET 2026 candidates prepared better in comparison with the 2025 candidates.

Check out NEET 2026 Re-Exam: Expected Cutoff & Paper Analysis LIVE | Matrix NEET Sikar

A Closer Look at the Chemistry Paper: Tough-Looking, But Actually Doable

NEET 2026 Chemistry was also high scoring with the Biology section. The Chemistry section looked tough but doable and high-scoring within the given time. 34-35 questions out of 45 were easy to moderate in the NEET Re-Exam 2026. Inorganic Chemistry was the most difficult section with a total of 16 questions. A complete analysis of the NEET Re-Exam 2026 Chemistry section is as follows-

Organic Chemistry: Mixed Concepts, Not Impossible Concepts

The Organic Chemistry section of the NEET Chemistry was moderate to difficult, which was mainly based on conceptual clarity instead of rote memorisation. Organic chemistry questions in Re-NEET 2026 were structured differently from previous years. The Organic Chemistry section tested two concepts or reactions together in place of testing one reaction or one concept in isolation. This is a major difference identified in the NEET Re-Exam 2026. Most of the NEET aspirants confirmed that Organic Chemistry was very tough.

The NTA designed the Organic Chemistry paper with a new format, where most of the questions are reaction- and fact-based, which requires a solid understanding of the NCERT to solve them.

Physical Chemistry: Calculation-Heavy but Fair

The Physical Chemistry section was moderate and doable in the given timeline with multiple calculation and concept-based questions. These types of questions can be solved with clarity of basic concepts. Apart from 1-2 difficult questions out of 45, the majority of the Physical Chemistry section was completely doable for a well-prepared student.

Most of the coaching institutes consider 1-2 difficult questions and predict the cut-off marks based on them, but it is not the right approach. If 8 out of 10 Physical Chemistry questions were doable and easy, then it would also reflect in the cutoff marks.

In comparison with the Organic Chemistry section, which was slightly difficult, the Physical Chemistry section was doable. It provides a total of 10- 15 minutes extra to solve the lengthy Biology and Physics sections. This is a major reason that proves why the 540 cutoff projection is almost certainly too low.

NEET 2025 cutoff was 527 despite a tough paper, mass panic, and no time advantage.

NEET 2026 has tough Physics + Chemistry (of similar difficulty). But 2026 also has: easy Biology, less time-consuming Biology, 15 extra minutes, mentally prepared students, and a year of tougher preparation. The primary reason behind the lower level NEET 2025 cut-off is panic among the students due to considering the overall paper difficult. The factors that help in increasing the NEET 2026 cut-off are time availability, mental readiness, and easy Biology section.

Inorganic Chemistry: Fact-Based and NCERT-Focused

The Inorganic Chemistry section of the NEET 2026 Re-Exam is slightly tough, but the questions are directly NCERT-based. Approximately 15-20% of the questions in the Inorganic Chemistry section were difficult, testing conceptual understanding rather than simple factual recall. A total of 16 questions were from the Inorganic Chemistry section, and the weightage of the 12th class is higher in comparison with the 11th class. Students with a good command of the NCERT concepts, such as periodic trends, chemical bonding, coordination compounds, and p-block chemistry, find the overall paper easy and doable.

What Should Students Do After Checking Their Re-NEET 2026 Score?

Based on the Re-NEET exam score, students can consider the following steps-

If a student scored more than 560 marks, then they are almost certain to get an MBBS seat under the All India Quota (government).

If a student scored between 540 and 560, then it will be considered as the grey zone. Apart from preparing to get admission in a government medical college, you should also prepare for backup options such as state quota, deemed universities, and private colleges with a positive approach.

If you scored below 540 marks, then you can apply for NEET Counselling process of government medical colleges and also start your next year exam preparation. Students can also consider the private college options and state quota cutoffs for better opportunities. It is important to plan smartly.

Note: Do not make decisions based on YouTube projections.

1 Dropped Question and 1 with Two Correct Answers in NEET Re-Exam 2026

The Provisional Answer Key released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) clearly indicates that 1 question from the Physics section was considered dropped due to incorrect framing or errors in the question. NEET 2026 students will receive bonus marks for this question, whether it was attempted or not attempted by them. Apart from this, one question has been declared to have two correct answers. Students who choose any one option from correct answers will get full marks for that question.

Conclusion

It is expected that the Re-NEET 2026 Cutoff will be around 560 is a realistic floor, and it could also go higher. Most of the coaching institutes project the Re-NEET cutoff marks around 540, which might not be right, and they predicted this because of taking early stage reviews from students who struggled in the paper and report as “very tough”. So, it is expected that the Re-NEET 2026 cutoff safe score to get a seat in a government medical college may be around 560-580 marks.

FAQs

What is the expected safe cutoff score for the Re-NEET 2026 Exam?
The expected safe score for Re-NEET 2026 is around 560–580 marks to get admission in a government medical college.

Why are most of the coaching institutes predicting a 540 cutoff mark?
The primary reason behind most of the coaching institutes predicting a cutoff score of 540 marks is that their predictions are based on early student reactions after the exam.
